The single biggest factor in choosing pads is heat, and the deciding question is your hottest regular use, not your average one. In brief:

  • Street compounds are the default for daily drivers — quiet, manageable dust, strong cold bite. Their weakness is sustained high heat.

The factory flex lines between the hard lines and the calipers are rubber, and rubber expands under pressure. Every millimetre the hose swells is pedal travel that didn’t reach the piston, and the effect gets worse as the hose ages and the fluid gets hot.
