What WRX turbo & boost hardware actually covers

Everything in this category exists to get more air into the engine, get it cooler, and keep boost stable once it is there. On a WRX that usually means one of three projects: fixing heat soak with a better intercooler, replacing charge-pipe or boost-control hardware that has failed, or going after the turbo itself — which is the point where supporting parts and a tune stop being optional.

Intercoolers (TMIC and FMIC)

The top-mount is compact and quick to respond; a front-mount trades some throttle response for far more cooling capacity and needs piping routed through the bumper.

Charge pipes and couplers

Factory plastic and rubber joints are common boost-leak points on higher-mileage cars, and a leak here mimics far more expensive problems.

Blow-off and bypass valves

Mostly a sound-and-response choice on a stock car. Recirculating versus vent-to-atmosphere affects driveability on a mass-airflow-metered engine.

Boost control and solenoids

The hardware the tune actually acts through. A sticking solenoid shows up as boost that will not hold, not as a check-engine light.

Turbochargers

A whole-project decision rather than a part swap: fuelling, exhaust flow and a tune come with it, not after it.

Silicone hoses, clamps and gaskets

The unglamorous parts that decide whether the rest of the project holds boost.

Before you buy Turbo and intercooler fitment tracks the engine family and the chassis generation, and a used part pulled from an STI is not automatically a WRX part. Check inlet, outlet and mounting before you buy.
